I-Ready

District 28 uses i-Ready, an online program for reading and mathematics, with diagnostic assessments and personalized instruction that help our teachers determine student needs, personalize learning, and monitor student growth. We use this platform so that we can focus on what really matters the most – supporting our students!

Here’s a little bit more about the program:

  • The diagnostics: Our students take three diagnostics on i-Ready throughout the school year. Doing so establishes a baseline of students’ proficiency across specific domains and assesses their growth from the beginning to the end of the year. These are computer-adaptive assessments that adjusts the difficulty of questions based on a student's responses, providing a detailed picture of their skills. The questioning format adapts as students respond to each question—getting more or less challenging as needed—to complete the diagnosis and identify each child’s performance level. The adaptive nature of the assessment meets students at their own skill level, so they experience success as well as challenge

  • Individualized Learning Pathways: An online learning program that delivers lessons and practice activities based on the results of the diagnostic assessment, helping students build skills in areas where they need support. Teachers are also able to assign specific lessons on the platform based on areas of need.

Time spent on the Individualized Learning Pathway is crucial for student growth. Special time in both ELA and Math is devoted to making progress on these pathways. In addition, students may be asked to spend time on their Individualized Learning Pathways at home for homework. Parents and guardians are critical partners in supporting this continued at-home practice.

Students log in through TeachHub or directly through the website. https://login.i-ready.com/ Students must use the login and password they were given from their ELA or Math teacher. Any student who does not remember their log in can contact their ELA or Math teacher or the department Assistant Principal for support.

To help you navigate the i-Ready platform and assist your child, we have linked several helpful resources:

  • The Family Guide that provides detailed information on how to log in, access the platform, and support your child’s continued practice at home.

  • An explanation of Lexile measures and how you can use this Lexile to assist your child in identifying books on their reading level.

  • The following website is a database that makes finding appropriate texts on a student’s Lexile level simple! https://hub.lexile.com/

We are grateful for your ongoing partnership as we work together to help our students achieve grade-level proficiency in reading and mathematics. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please reach out to your child’s ELA or Math teacher or to the department assistant principals Mrs. Schiano, Mathematics, at [email protected] and Ms. Albanese, ELA, at [email protected].
