First Day Procedures

First Day Procedures – Thursday, September 4, and Friday, September 5, 2025

 

School will open on Thursday, September 4, 2025, with a full day of school for all students. Teachers should plan to arrive before 8:00 AM (parking will be difficult). Check in and move your time card in the Main Office. Pick up appropriate forms for students to fill out during the homeroom period. These forms will be placed in your mailbox. 

 The school cafeteria will be open for students beginning at 7:30 AM. Any students eating breakfast in the cafeteria will be escorted to the school yard before 8:00 AM to join other students waiting in the yard. At 8:00 AM, all students will enter the building according to designated grade entrances, then be escorted to homerooms by their teachers, as outlined below. 

 

Students are to report to school on Thursday, September 4th and Friday, September 5th at the following times and locations: 

  • Grade 6 – 7:45AM-8:00AM: 6th grade students will report to the school yard (Mr. Dechongkit, Ms. Yasin, Ms. Gonzalez, Ms. Kartasis supervise), stand by the sign for their class, and remain in the school yard until they are lined up and escorted to homeroom by their homeroom teachers.  IMPORTANT CHANGE: 691 and 692 will be directed to the library when they get off the bus in the morning. 794 and 994 will also go directly to the library in the morning. Ms. Karlic and Mr. Trainor will be in the library supporting the students.

 

  • Grade 7 – 7:45AM-8:00AM: 7th grade students will report to the school yard and will be escorted for line-up at the 7th grade entrance on 63rd drive between 102 street and Yellowstone Blvd. Students will line up with their homeroom class in the Gym B (Ms. Albanese, Ms. Schiano, Mr. Robinson, Ms. Broker supervise) where they will be picked up by their homeroom teachers and escorted to their homeroom classroom.  

 

  • Grade 8 – 7:45AM-8:00AM: 8th grade students will report to the school yard and will be escorted for line-up at the 8th grade entrance on 64th avenue between 102 street and Yellowstone Blvd. Students will then sit with their homeroom class in the Cafeteria (Ms. Napolitano, Mr. Plummer, Mr. Sarris supervise) until their homeroom teacher picks them up and escorts them to their homeroom classroom.

When students get to their homerooms, they will go over the following procedures and protocols with their homeroom class: 

  1. Attendance taking 
  2. Lateness, absences, and absence notes 
  3. Digital device policy, including Yondr pouch policies
  4. Morning exercises, including the Pledge of Allegiance and video announcements
  5. Distribution of blue cards etc.
  6. Distribution of student schedules
  7. Review 1st day procedures
  8. Lunch/Talent Class
  9. Expectations for behavior during hallway passing
  10. Students are informed of the name and location of their Assistant Principal(s), Guidance Counselor, and Dean

 

On the first day of school, Thursday, September 4th ONLY, we will follow a SPECIAL BELL SCHEDULE. Students will have the opportunity to visit every class. However, certain periods will be shortened by approximately ten minutes.

8:10 – 9:00 Students in Homeroom

9:00 – 9:30 Period 1

9:30 – 10:00 Period 2

10:00 – 10:30 Period 3

10:30 – 11:15 Period 4

11:15 – 12:00 Period 5

12:00 – 12:45 Period 6

12:45 – 1:30 Period 7

1:30 – 2:00 Period 8

2:00 – 2:15 Homeroom Period 

2:15 Dismissal for Grade 6 (Teachers escort all 6th grade classes to the yard)

2:17  Dismissal for Grade 7

2:19  Dismissal for Grade 8

 

 

On Thursday, September 4th and Friday, September 5th, all students will be dismissed as follows:

 

Grade 6 Dismissal Time: 2:15 PM 

  • 6th grade yellow bus students (general education students only) will be dismissed by their homeroom teachers and meet in the auditorium promptly at 2:15 PM.   
  • Teachers will escort all 6th grade classes to the school yard and then to the appropriate exit for dismissal.  Parents picking up 6th grade students on the first day or school will meet their children at the school yard entrances on 63rd Drive and 64th Avenue:
    • Classes  602, 603, 604, 605, 606, 607, 608, 609, 610 will be dismissed from the school yard gate on 64th Ave and Yellowstone Blvd. 
    • Classes 620, 621, 622, 623, 624, 625, 626, 627, 628, 691, 692 will be dismissed from the school yard gate on 63rd Drive and Yellowstone Blvd.

 

Grades 7 Dismissal Time: 2:17 PM 

  • Grade 7 will be dismissed from the exits closest to their homerooms.

 

Grade 8: Dismissal Time 2:19 PM

  • Grade 8 will be dismissed from the exits closest to their homerooms.
